Get certified to dive!

PADI OPEN WATER – Full Course

Get Open Water Certified in just four days at our beautiful Barrier Reef and you will be able to dive anywhere around the world.

We specialize in certifying divers in three to four days.

DAY 1

Meet at 9:00AM for a day of videos for about 3.5 hours. If possible, it’s helpful to pick up your PADI Open Water manual the evening before class starts. Students are required to complete paperwork with us prior, if you have any recent surgeries ( within 5 years) / health conditions ( asthma, lung/ chest diseases, high blood pressure, heart conditions, ear diseases), please kindly get a doctor’s note prior to coming to start your course. You can let us know via email, and we are more than happy to send you a PDF file of the medical assessment, and you can have your family doctor sign it off for you.

DAY 2

Start diving! Meet at 8:30AM, get fitted for your equipment (included in the course), and spend about an hour reviewing the equipment and skills. Water, fruits and snacks are provided by us on the boat, and if students wish to bring along any personal items with them, there is a dry area to store them. Then, we’ll get in a boat and head to the reef where we’ll practice skills in shallow water (7ft/2m) in the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve, before taking our first Open Water dive in a little deeper water (15ft/ 5m). We’ll explore the shallow reefs and find little creatures such as Arrow Crabs and Pederson Shrimps. Upon completion of Open Water dive 1, we can continue with some more skills to complete Open Water dive 2, (max depth 24ft/8m) where we are able to explore deeper in the South Channel, if we do get lucky, we might be able to see spotted eagle rays and turtles. We’ll return to the shop around 2PM, and students will be given their quizzes and exams to complete.

DAY 3

Meet at 8:30AM and begin to explore deeper waters. Open Water Dives 3 and 4 will generally be “outside the reef” where the “real dives” take place. We will dive to 40ft/12m if permitted on Open Water Dive 3. For Open Water Dive 4, we will be diving to a maximum depth of 60ft/ 18m, so students can learn how the dive computer works fully. If weather does not permit us to head outside the reef to complete Open Water Dive 3 & 4, we will stay shallow (inside the reef) and complete the skills that are required for those 2 dives. These dives are generally done at the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve. We’ll return around 1PM. Quizzes and exams are checked, and newly certified divers are rewarded with a logbook and a picture to complete their certification.

DAY 4

If due to weather or any personal reasons that we are not able to complete the dives, day 4 will be the extra day that comes in handy for us to finish off the PADI Open Water Course.

  • Maximum # of Students per instructor: 6, usually less.
  • Dives included: 4

JUNIOR OPEN WATER DIVERS

Divers 10-14 years of age are classified as Junior Open Water Divers. The course and requirements are the same, except for: 10- and 11-year old divers will dive to a maximum of 40ft/12m; and for any diver under the age of 12, Frenchie’s requires a parent to dive with the student. Once certified, the Junior Diver receives a Junior Open Water certification card that may be upgraded to an Open Water Diver card when the diver turns 15 (this does not require any additional course work; the student must arrange for an instructor to resubmit the application form). A certified Junior Open Water Diver must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or PADI professional.
